When it come into sales, its always fascinating to see how human genuine interaction can actually implemented and become formula to make money. I choose the words of “genuine interaction” is because as a sales person you can make someone purchase your products if you genuine enough in building relationship with them.

So, all sales person are genuine?

Just like not all HR can understand the employees needs, so it goes the same with sales person. It need years of practice and learning to become one, it’s definitely not an one night work. Most successful sales person have the power of being attentive and mindful in what is the things they will ask, it turned into paying attention in every conversation that they’re in. With that they can collect more informations about their prospects and prescribe solutions.

So, as a new sales person that just jump into the sales world. You probably questioning, “Ok, I need to build relation first with my clients, but where should I start?”, “They say I need open questions, but how I elaborate those 5W+1H formula into genuine conversation?”.

I’ll not tell you what and how to jump into conversation funnel to win your sales, it’s another story. But most of successful sales persons, they bring their intention and mindful enough when it come to building relationship with someone that can possibly become their prospect. So, the questions and comments that they share with their future prospect is come from willingness and mindful listening. It’s not easy to go through the conversation when you are not willing to put yourselves in.

Now you probably start to question, “Then what is this mindful sales person? How a mindful sales person can benefits the company?.”

A mindful salesperson is someone who is aware of their own thoughts and feelings, as well as the thoughts and feelings of their customers. They are able to empathize with their customers and think critically about their sales strategy. They are also able to recognize their own biases and adjust their approach accordingly. Mindful salespeople are creative problem solvers and use their knowledge and experience to find a solution that works best for both them and the customer. They are patient and understanding, and they strive to ensure the customer leaves feeling heard and respected.

I love the words from Brian Tracy,

Approach each customer with the idea of helping him or her solve a problem or achieve a goal, not of selling a product or service.

What will happened if the sales person is not mindful?

If a sales person is not mindful, they may miss out on important details that could help them close a deal, or they may fail to build a rapport with a customer, which could lead to decreased sales. Being mindful helps a sales person stay focused on the task at hand, pay attention to customer needs, and create a positive customer experience.

If a sales person is mindful, the customer is likely to feel valued and appreciated. A mindful sales person pays close attention to the customer’s needs and desires, is able to answer any questions or address any concerns the customer may have, and is dedicated to providing the best possible service and experience. In addition, a mindful sales person is courteous and respectful, making sure to carry out the conversation in a professional and polite manner. All of these qualities make for a pleasant customer experience and can help to create a positive and lasting impression.

How mindful sales person can benefit the company?

A mindful salesperson can bring a great benefit to any company. Mindful salespeople pay attention to their customers, take the time to understand their needs, and build relationships with them. They are patient and empathetic, and they don’t rush their customers into making decisions. They provide valuable information and advice, and they strive to build trust and loyalty. Mindful salespeople are also proactive, looking for opportunities to upsell and cross-sell, and they’re quick to follow up with customers, ensuring they are satisfied and more likely to return in the future. Ultimately, mindful salespeople can help a company increase customer satisfaction, build up its customer base, and increase its revenue.

It’s sounds fascinating, when most people see the connotation of “sales person” is negative such us “a liar”. But in this modern world we see how sales role has improve.

For some reason you start to think about to become a good sales person. So here 5 tips of how to become a mindful sales person, so you can help your customer better , build better relationship and of course increase your performance:

When engaging with a customer, it’s important to take the time to understand their needs and concerns. Let them talk, and pay attention to what they say. Listening is key to building a strong relationship with a customer. To ensure they feel heard, I’ll take the time to ask them questions and to really listen to their answers. I understand that this is the best way to understand their needs and provide them with the best possible service.
  2. Be present in the moment
When engaging with a customer, be sure to focus on the conversation at hand and be mindful of your body language and make sure to give your customer your full attention. This will help create a positive experience for the customer and show that you care about their individual needs.
  3. Do research before engaging
Research is key! Taking the time to do research before engaging with a customer is a great way to ensure that you’re prepared for the conversation and understand their needs. Make sure to check out their website, read customer reviews, and review any relevant documentation, so that you can be knowledgeable and helpful when talking with them.

Asking thoughtful questions will show your customer that you are genuinely interested in their needs. It’s always important to ask thoughtful questions to gain a better understanding of your customer’s needs. Doing so will help you provide the best service possible and ensure their satisfaction.
